Systems of care and quality improvement are included as part of the CHAMP mini-series, "Teaching on Today's Wards." Through interactive teaching methods including small group exercises and card games, learners will become able to: define systems based practice; demonstrate how to evaluate a learner's ability to work within an existing system and how decisions and actions affect the entire system of care; identify conceptual elements of quality improvement projects with residents; define practice based learning and improvement; demonstrate "Plan Do Study Act;" demonstrate teaching and evalauting practice based learning and improvement; and demonstrate case and census audits. Geriatric content is infused throughout. The User's Guide to Systems Based Practice and Practice Based Learning and Improvement details how to lead these sessions. Please feel free to contact us for support and assistance.
Teaching materials include: slide presentations on systems based practice and practice based learning and improvement; small group exercises and handouts; references; and sample session evaluation forms.
