Learners will be able to recognize the opportunity for improving the documentation of advance directives discussions in the hospital; better understand the general prognosis for in-hospital cardiac arrest and the poor prognostic factors for survival after in-hospital resuscitation; better understand the common errors made in advance directives discussions by residents; and articulate the steps of an advance directives discussion.  Teaching materials include a 30 minute slide presentation, references, a pocket teaching card and a session evaluation form.
